Question: Who decides which airline get this code or that code?


Definition: The code designated by IATA to represent the name of an airline (UA is United Airlines, AF is Air France...)

IATA stands for the International Air Transport Association and was founded in ... Havana ,Cuba in April 1945 (if I remember well ).  It's the agency for airline cooperation in promoting safe, reliable, secure and economical  services. IATA is now more than 100 times larger than it was in 1945! IATA represents now 270 members from over 140 countries. These airlines represent 94% of the air traffic - I don't recommend to fly the remaining 6%...
